SZECHUAN PEPPER

FORMAT: 90g jar

DESCRIPTION: Dried Szechuan pepper berries (Zanthoxylum piperitum), native to China, known for their citrusy, floral flavor and their characteristic slightly numbing effect in the mouth. It adds an exotic, fresh and vibrant touch, ideal for Asian dishes, stir-fried meats, fish, noodles, marinades and sauces. Combined with chilies or ginger, it enhances umami flavors with a unique balance of heat and freshness.

INGREDIENTS: Whole Szechuan pepper (Zanthoxylum piperitum).

ORIGIN: China.

TASTING NOTES: It is not a pepper in the traditional botanical sense, but rather the husk of a citrus shrub. It stands out for its lemon and woody aroma, but above all for its "numbtingle" effect: a tingling or slight numbing sensation on the tongue and lips that is unique and refreshing.

USE: It is a fundamental ingredient in the cuisine of the Sichuan region (China). It is used in iconic dishes such as Mapo Tofu or Kung Pao. It is ideal for flavoring oils, stir-fries, duck and pork dishes, or for adding an exotic touch to fish. To maximize its flavor, it is recommended to lightly toast and grind the berries before use.

STORAGE: Store in a dry, dark and cool place.

ALLERGENS: May contain traces of Celery, Sesame, Gluten and Mustard due to their presence in the facilities.
